Buffon reveals the secret of his refusal to move to Barcelona and his preference for the second division with Parma

Veteran Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon revealed that he had received two important offers before his official move to Parma, one of which was from Barcelona, but he rejected the two offers because he wanted to be a key player and not sit as a substitute again, as happened with Juventus last season, saying: “I received two important offers, one of which was From Barcelona, I rejected both offers because I did not want to be a substitute again."

And Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon added, in his presentation conference as a Parma player: "Barcelona did not promise me many minutes, and I do not want to repeat this. I did it last season for Juventus only with an emotional impulse, and I spent three weeks to determine the important decision on the matter." My future and my last step, and I wanted to return to Parma,” according to what Russia Today reported.

The Italian goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon, informed his wife of the details of his move to Parma, saying: “I did not even inform my wife of this decision, I just sent her a text message and told her: We will return to Parma, I chose Parma, far from being in the second class, and I still enjoy I have the same passion for football and I will invest that in Parma in the new season."

The Italian club Parma had announced that legendary goalkeeper Gigi Buffon had officially joined its ranks in a free transfer deal that would bring the historical star back to his former club, with whom he started his career in 1995.

"I wanted to send a message to myself first before anyone else, especially because I know myself well and if I don't invest emotionally I won't perform well," Buffon said at the press conference to introduce him.

Buffon added: "I thought about the offers I had received for 3 weeks until I woke up one day and told my wife that we were going to Parma and that she had not expected it but that she trusted me and my feelings."

Buffon's coach will be in Parma next season in the second division, Enzo Maresca, who is two years younger than Buffon and played with him at Juventus before.

"I spoke with coach Enzo Marisca three times on the tactical aspects and I think I'm still a good goalkeeper, otherwise I will risk embarrassing myself, so I'm sure Parma is my best option for the last challenge," Buffon said.

This will be Buffon's second season in Serie B after a season at Italian club Juventus when the team was relegated in 2006/2007.
