Sultanate of Oman: 1.25 million doses of Corona vaccine arrived during this June

The Omani Ministry of Health announced that about one million and a quarter million doses of the vaccine against the Corona virus “Covid-19” will arrive in the Sultanate of Oman during the current month of June.

The ministry seeks - according to the Oman News Agency - to cover the entire target population with the anti-Coronavirus "Covid-19" vaccine over 12 years of age, which is equivalent to 70% of the population, which will be implemented in phases according to vaccine supplies in accordance with the national strategy for immunization against the virus.

The Director of Infectious Diseases Control at the General Directorate of Disease Control and Control at the ministry, Badr bin Saif Al-Rawahi, said that the ministry has developed an executive plan for immunization for the current month of June, which includes vaccinating a number of groups, namely general diploma students and health workers in the private sector who have not previously received the vaccine, in addition to providers Basic services and employees of the military and civil authorities, as the vaccination process will begin next week.

He pointed out that for other groups of society, the categories will be expanded to include adults aged 45 years and over during the third week of June, and all those who received the first dose will be immunized with the second dose who completed 10 weeks.

Al-Rawahi confirmed the effectiveness and safety of vaccines in the Sultanate, which were chosen on scientific grounds and after being licensed by the approved regulatory bodies in the country of origin and international organizations.
