Volkswagen has decided to gradually abandon the production of combustion engines

The Volkswagen Group plans to abandon the production of combustion engines in a number of regions around the world, and the technical website "The Verge" stated that the process of abandoning combustion engines will be gradually, and the beginning will be in the European continent.

"We will abandon work in the field of combustion engine cars in Europe between 2033 and 2035," said Volkswagen Marketing Director, Klaus Zelmer, noting that the abandonment of these cars in the United States and China will take place in a somewhat later step, and it will take a longer period. in Latin America and Africa.

Zelmer stressed that Volkswagen will continue to invest in improving combustion cars, pointing out that this also applies to diesel cars, but he considered that the planned exhaust standard (Euro7) would be a special challenge for diesel cars.
