4 people rescued, others missing after mudslide in China

Four people have been rescued as of Sunday, while several others are still missing, after a mudslide triggered by torrential rains hit the province's Tianchuan county on Saturday, local authorities in southwest China's Sichuan Province said.

The governorate's emergency management headquarters said that two of the four rescued people suffered minor injuries, while one of the other two did not show any signs of life, and the last person was in a stable health condition when he was rescued.

The four people were inside a temporary shelter on a construction site when the mudslide hit, according to the Ya'an City Emergency Management Office, which manages Tianquan County.

The province has sent more than 100 people from different cities to Tianquan for search and rescue operations after more than 10 people were reported missing early in the morning.
